New Mode: Sabotage (COMING FEBRUARY 5TH!)

Welcome to our newest limited-time mode, Sabotage. In each round of this 4v4 match, both teams fight to take control of a neutral bomb and detonate it in the enemy team's zone or eliminate the enemy team's tickets. If you have the bomb, be careful because the enemy team can see you!
Similar to Strikeout, you can respawn as many times as you like until you run out of tickets. A best of five rounds will determine the winner and you'll switch sides each time!
  • Each round lasts 4 minutes.
  • Each team has 40 tickets.
  • The respawn time is 7 seconds.
  • A team wins by planting the bomb or having the most tickets left when the round ends.
  • There is no defend time once you plant the bomb.
  • While a player is holding the bomb they are revealed to friendlies in green and enemies in gold.
  • The bomb will reset where it spawns if it gets thrown off the map or is idle for 30 seconds.

Battle Pass

The Season One Battle Pass is Rogue Company’s first and it's filled with 50 rewards you can earn! By simply playing the game, you’ll earn Battle Pass Levels and work your way to the top to unlock the coveted Hellfire Protocol Scorch.

https://preview.redd.it/jiq14wfjd6f61.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=92a8a7f2cd1f2124484b6a33423f7bb183e5f201
There are two Battle Pass Bundles available:
Battle Pass Base Bundle (1000 RB)
  • 3 Instant Premium Rewards (One Shot One Kill Fixer Outfit, Neon Psychedelic Primary Wrap, 1 Hour Account Boost)
  • +20% Battle Pass Experience
Battle Pass Elite Bundle (2000 RB)
  • +15 Battle Pass Tiers
  • 3 Instant Premium Rewards (One Shot One Kill Fixer Outfit, Neon Psychedelic Primary Wrap, 1 Hour Account Boost)

Boosts

In Season One we are introducing boosts that you can earn at various levels in the Battle Pass. A few important notes:
  • These boosts will increase your base experience gained by 100% before bonuses.
  • Only one boost can be active at a time.
  • Once activated, the boost will continue running even if you are offline.
  • You can view and activate your available boosts in the "Boosts" menu found in the bottom left corner of the main menu.

Ranked Season One

Tiers and Divisions
The climb to Rogue is not an easy one, and we want you to have a real feeling of accomplishment as you move up through the ranks. Season One will better define where players stand by introducing 6 new Tiers from Bronze to Rogue, the first five containing 5 separate Divisions.
  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Diamond
  • Rogue
With the new Ranked system, we want to create competitive matchmaking, and with this in mind, we are introducing new features to place you with players close to your skill. At the beginning of each Ranked Season, players will participate in 10 placement matches and placed in a Tier and Division based on their performance.
The second way we are improving matchmaking for Ranked is the inclusion of party restrictions. In Season One you will not be able to queue in a party unless all members are within 6 divisions of each other.
Reputation Gain and Leveling
With Season One, we are removing the Level Reputation earned per match and providing it in a different way. The following changes have been made:
  • Rewards given at each level have been doubled.
  • Contract rewards have been increased significantly (300 and 500 per contract).
  • Contracts renewal will now provide you with 3 contracts at once per day instead of 1 every 6 hours.
  • New contracts have been added.
  • Some contracts have been adjusted to make them easier to achieve.

This Week at Bungie - 11/5/2020

Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/49751
This week at Bungie, we’re beginning our descent to Europa.
Every release, we have a long conversation about what we should show players leading up to launch, and what we should leave for players to discover. We want to build up the sense of wonder as a new Season or expansion makes its approach without spoiling everything that’s coming. With just a week to go before launch, we’ve almost reached our destination.
Video Link
Our Beyond Light Launch Trailer went live last week. A ViDoc, exploring Beyond Light and Season of the Hunt, is available for your viewing pleasure. We’ve released our Season of the Hunt calendar to help you plan out your days for the next few months.
Image Linkimgur
All that’s left is a quick preview of patch notes and a maintenance timeline. After that, we leave the rest to you.

It’s All in the Patch

Over the last few weeks, our goals have been to set expectations. We’ve covered the Destiny Content Vault, upcoming Sandbox changes, Gambit tuning, and more. These updates aren’t mind-blowing or overly game changing, they’re just nice little morsels to chew on in the final days leading up to launch. In any case, we hope you like the following quality of life appetizers before your meal is delivered on November 10.
Archives
Beginning November 10, two new kiosks will be available in the Tower. First up, the Quest Archive will be found next to the Postmaster. Our hope is that this removes some of the confusion when trying to track down the odd quest that you previously discarded. Additionally, this will be the place for any veteran players to pick up the New Light Quest on November 10, if they have a strong desire to experience new player tutorials and the (re-)introduction to the Cosmodrome.
Image Linkimgur
Next up, the Monument to Lost Lights Exotic Archive will be found by the Vault. Here, players may acquire various Exotics and Legendary Pinnacle/Pursuit weapons that were once available through now-retired quests. As many of these Exotics were tied to lengthy quests or difficult objectives, we wanted to make sure their prices reflected those previous efforts. Players will need an amount of Glimmer, destination materials, masterworking materials, and an Exotic Cipher or Ascendant Shard in order to purchase the Exotic or Legendary which they desire. We’re also introducing a currency, Spoils of Conquest, which can only be acquired when completing raids. This currency will be required for Exotics previously tied to Vaulted raids.
Image Linkimgur
In the past, Exotic Ciphers were very limited in nature. While you can expect one to be available as part of the Season Pass, Xur will also offer a quest to earn one Exotic Cipher on a weekly cadence.
Now, let's move on to some traditional patch notes...
Crucible
  • Trials of Osiris
    • Trials of Osiris Power level requirement increased to 1210.
    • Added ADEPT weapons and weapon mods to Flawless chest rewards.
    • Additional information here (link TWAB).
  • Maps
    • Added physics blockers to some out-of-bounds areas on Altar of Flame.
    • Added physics blockers to some out-of-bounds areas on Exodus Blue.
    • Added physics blockers to some out-of-bounds areas on Cauldron.
Player Identity
  • Login screens now have a dark background.
  • Updated the full-screen menus to have a dark background style.
  • Player waypoints now display Season Rank, HUD waypoints.
  • Added toggle functionality to the character screen, allowing the player to make a choice between Light and Dark subclasses.
    • Character screen visuals updated depending on player choice between Light and Dark.
Character Creation
  • Changed selection from "Male" & "Female" to "Masculine" & "Feminine."
  • Guardian head and hair models have been replaced with improved versions.
    • Several color swatches have been changed to better represent the applied color.
    • Player’s previous head selections are still used.
Misc
  • Fixed a bug that prevented online friends from showing up in the roster on Stadia for players with more than 100 friends.
  • Fixed a bug that occasionally prevented players from earning progress on bounties when joining an activity in progress.
  • This most notably impacted Iron Banner bounties and could cause players to have their Artifact Power bonus enabled during Iron Banner matches.
A few Sandbox changes that we missed in our Sandbox preview
  • Traveler's Chosen
    • Reduced muzzle flash intensity.
  • Point of the Stag
    • Increased Point of the Stag's Max Power Level to 1310.
  • Divinity
    • Fixed a bug that prevented some weapons from dealing precision damage to the Divinity cage (e.g. Eriana's Vow).
  • Hunter Dodge
    • Increased Hunter's Dodge cooldown by a few seconds.
    • (E.g. Tier 4, old cooldown: 22 sec. New cooldown: 26 sec.)
  • Anti-Champion Mods
    • Anti-barrier rounds will now penetrate Taken Phalanx shields.
    • All Anti-Champion mods have been shifted to armor, rather than taking a weapon mod slot.
  • Orbs of Light have been changed to Orbs of Power as they can now be consumed by Light and Dark subclasses.
Before we end our patch note preview, we do want to call out the collectors among you who have been talking about the impending removal of Expired Ramen Coupons from your inventories. We know this one stings a bit. It’s a byproduct of us cleaning up inventory systems and doing general maintenance.
We want to a provide a parting gift before these coupons are tossed into the bin. These coupons can’t be redeemed for spicy ramen, but they can decorate your desktop for as long as you desire.
[4k – SPICY RAMEN COUPONS]

…and there we have it. Full patch notes will be released on Tuesday around launch time. Stay tuned!

Next week, we’ll have a new companion section for Movie of the Week. We felt it important to give the same spotlight to the artists of our community as we’ve been giving to those who create fun videos.
To throw your hat in the ring, submit your content to the Community Creations portal on Bungie.net. If you also post your content to social media, tag it with #DestinyMOTW or #DestinyArt. We’ll snag a few winners each week and grant them some fancy new emblems.
We’ve been here a few times. What was once months became weeks. Weeks have become mere days. Five more sleeps stand between you and Beyond Light. Well, that’s if you can even sleep the night before launch. I know I probably won’t. Many of you have been on this journey with us from the start. In the last year, numerous Guardians have begun their journey through New Light. No matter how long you’ve been a Guardian, we can’t thank you enough for playing.
Stay hydrated. Be healthy. Treat yourself well.
We’re almost there.
See you starside.

This Week At Bungie 12/3/2020

Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/49918
This week at Bungie, we prepare for next gen.
It’s been a while since we last spoke. I mean, it hasn’t been too long. We took a quick week off for holiday, but we’re back to the grind. There’s a bit to catch up on. Since the last TWAB, new Exotics have been discovered throughout Europa. Banshee has found new memories. The Deep Stone Crypt has been infiltrated. A dinosaur was sent into space.
Quite a few of you have been asking about raid statistics. It’s always fun seeing how many players took on the challenge for a completion during the first week. We dug through our databases and found some fun stats to share, and we’re happily surprised by how many of you completed your first ever Jacket Quest.
Day 1 Stats (Unique Raid Activity Clears)
Last Wish Garden of Salvation Deep Stone Crypt
4 551 29,814
Launch +10 Days Stats
Statistic Last Wish Garden of Salvation Deep Stone Crypt
Unique Raid Activity Clears 3,555 33,152 258,049
Total Player Hours 2,185,983 2,807,504 7,156,651
Total Kills 338,667,495 446,461,881 1,100,488,566
Total Deaths 32,734,027 42,676,699 85,008,596
A final fun fact: Over 979,680 Guardians unlocked The Lament since the quest went live. That’s a LOT of sword damage.
Now that we’ve covered the time that’s passed, let’s get back to business.

Light Keepers – Charity Update!

Earlier this week we kicked off our Game2Give Light Keepers charity initiative and, to no one’s surprise, the Destiny community has shown up in force. Return of the Banner

With the raid done and dusted, Lord Saladin is ready to get Guardians back into the Iron Banner. This will be the first Iron Banner to feature Stasis powers, so we’re all excited for what’s to come.
Image Linkimgur
For any New Lights out there, Iron Banner is a limited time 6v6 Crucible activity with Power-enabled combat. While artifact power is disabled, you’ll want to infuse and equip your most powerful gear before jumping in.
Similar to Control, there are three zones on the map for your team to capture. The more zones you hold, the more points you get when defeating Guardians. If your team is brave enough to capture all three zones, the opposing team will be locked out of capturing zones for a short duration. In other words, this is your time to shine while your enemies cower in fear.
To say it clearly, capping those zones is one of the most important things you can do. Stay close to your teammates, slay your enemies, and enjoy the spoils of victory!
Lord Saladin can be found in The Tower, offering Iron Banner bounties with pinnacle-powered rewards. If you’d like to adorn your Guardian in Iron Banner-themed loot, he’s got you covered. Two weapons from the first year of Destiny 2 have been reprised, now featuring random rolls! Additionally, the Iron Will armor set is making its return, updated to accept new combat mods.
Image Linkimgur
Iron Banner begins at 9 AM on December 8, running through 9 AM on December 15.
Truth be told, you’ll be downloading an update right before Iron Banner becomes available. You know what that means? It’s time for a patch note preview.

  • Necrotic Grip
    • Fixed an issue where being killed by the effects of Necrotic Grip would show as being "Killed by the Architects."
We’ll have a full list of patch notes ready to go on December 8 when the patch becomes avaailble for download. Speaking of availability…

**KNOWN ISSUES *
While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:

  • Some players are being forced to reacquire the Cryptolith Lure every time they launch the game.
  • Major enemies that drop Moon weapon parts aren’t spawning.

  • The Halcyon Visage Exotic Sparrow takes shaders poorly.
  • The Selfie Emote functions poorly on ultrawide monitor setups.
  • The Wisdom of the Witch Triumph no longer counts progress.
  • Some players cannot progress past the first mission of A Guardian Rises.
  • The Drifter sometimes misgenders players in idle dialogue and Gambit dialogue.
  • Eris still has a Weekly Challenge for some players. This Weekly Challenge intentionally does not provide a Powerful reward.
  • Flawless Execution on the Way of the Wraith Hunter subclass has a delayed trigger.
  • Resetting Valor rank on step 4 of 5 on the Light Reforged Crucible quest prevents future Valor earned from being recorded for the quest.
  • Multiple ships have their rocket effects floating behind the ship model.
  • Shiver Strike Titan melee does not function with the Heavy Handed mod.
  • Collections go back to the main menu instead of to the previous section.
  • HDR isn’t working as intended.
  • We’re investigating player reports that their veteran dialogue has been replaced with new character dialogue.

Don’t Fall for an Imposter

Since the Deep Stone Crypt raid went live, we’ve been watching numerous fireteams take on the challenge. For some, it was their first trip through pinnacle content in Destiny 2. Exploring new zones, encountering new bosses, and earning new loot is always exciting! For others, this was an opportunity to take things to the limit by taking on the challenge solo. Who needs a backpack?

Next week will be our final TWAB of the year. We’re entering a period where many of our employees will be spending time with family, celebrating the end of a year, and recharging for what’s to come in 2021. We’ll still be around to respond to your feedback, process bug reports, and keep the servers running.
Now, it’s time for me to raid. Looking for a better roll on my Trustee scout rifle from the Deep Stone Crypt. Any suggestions?
Cheers,

What about the Future? -The disappearance of jetsetradio.live and the future of online pirate radio-

It's been about 4 days since jetsetradio.live was mysteriously taken down and hopefully I'm not jumping the gun in assuming that it may be gone for good, or at least for the time being, given what has been happening recently.
Like many others, I happened to stumble upon this site only a couple of months ago and instantly fell in love with it. It was like a dream I never knew I had: having a real life Jet Set Radio. The only game I had was JSRF back when I was like 10 and was still too young to really appreciate it the way I do now, but the site made me went to reconnect with the games again. I'm sure people have stories similar to mine, which only makes it clear to see how much of an impact JSRL had on the community. While there will still be fans for the games, with the site gone it now feels like there's a hole. Because of this I thought it was important to look back on the history of having a "real life" Jet Set Radio and the possible of a successor in the future. Keep in mind that I'm not really a veteran to the community or fandom, so if you have any other corrections or extra information feel free to comment.

jetsetrad.io

The first attempt of making a real life radio (afaik) was back around March of 2013 in the form of jetsetrad.io. It started out more as a blog dedicated to finding JSR related songs, but later allowed for songs to be streamed off the site. The "About" section says this:

Jet Set Radio?
Jet Set Radio Future and Jet Grind Radio are games which are known for their unique soundtrack. Unfortunately, due to the non-genre-specific nature of the music, people are often disappointed when they go to get more music like the songs they loved from the games – and simply cannot find it.
jetsetrad.io is all about giving the fans of the games’ soundtracks an opportunity to discover and listen to music which is similar to that of the Jet Set Radio pirate radio station in the games.
There's not much I could find about the guy who started it other then he was a fan of the series and that he went by the moniker "DJ Professor K". The site posted songs from both games and users would send over recommendations that would later be highlighted and added to the list. The last post was September 2015 and the site didn't go offline until sometime around May 2017.
(P.S. I eventually did find what I believe is the guy who first started jetsetrad.io. I'm not going to mention him by name since it looks like he has since moved on with other things in life and I don't want people to be bugging him about a website he made 7 years ago. If I had to guess I don't think he is the one behind the new jetsetrad.io, but who knows).

jetsetradio.live

According to Professor K himself, the story goes as follows:
"... One night in 2016, I was in a deep sleep. You know that movie Wayne's World 2? In my dream, a musical cherub with colored wings came to me and said "If you build it they will come... save the future." So... as soon as I woke up I put together a demo of what it could be like. I have some hobby knowledge of HTML5 and the first version of the website just played the soundtracks with different backgrounds flashing. You couldn't skip. There were no stations. No ticker. No chat. No wall (Source: videogamer.com)".
"Jet Set Radio Live started in January of 2016 when I woke up from a dream... in fact, you could argue I didn't start Jet Set Radio Live. It started itself. I just had the skills to whip up an idea of what it would look like in the modern world (Source: The DJ Behind The Real Jet Set Radio)"
Jetsetradio.live officially started on January 25th, 2016. As mentioned above, it was a pretty basic site with the only notable feature being a chatroom. You can find a rundown of how the early site looked in this video. It was not made by the same "Professor K" as the first site, however it did incorporate the song list that the first site made as a foundation and would later pass the torch as users began to migrate over. The site continued to be slowly updated until it eventually reached a stable.

What happened to Professor K?

Shortly after the site was made, a Twitter account was made under the handle @jetsetradiolive where the site owner continued his roleplay as "DJ Professor K". I wasn't a long time follower, but if you scroll through his earlier post you can see him retweeting any things relating to Jet Set Radio, obsessing over adult model Hitomi Tanaka, calling out SEGA about not making a sequel for JSR, and poking fun with series composer Hideki Naganuma, all while staying in character. I don't know if there was any drama in the past, but I believe the reason for his disappearance began when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. With the series of riots, political contention, and overall uncertainty about the future, naturally Professor K wasn't going to sit back and watch what he thinks could be the "Rokkaku" starting to take over. Maybe it was all an act, maybe he actually believed what he said, maybe he thought he could be some sort of activist and actually start a revolution, or maybe his own personal frustrations were leaking out. Whatever the reason is it's unclear and I'll leave it up to you to decide. The only thing that is clear is that things started to go downhill as the year went on.
On December 28th, 2020 Professor K sent out what seems to be a final message in his usual cryptic fashion. It's unclear what exactly caused this to happen, though in the days that followed he started to get into more arguments with people as more people began to call him out about some of the things he was retweeting and spreading. He could have did it out of spite or it's entirely possible that he was already thinking about leaving months ago, in any case it's all just speculation. Two weeks later on January 11th, 2021, the site displayed "404 Page Not Found" with Professor K still being silent.

What about the Future?

As of now, the site is still technically online. From what I can see the page is actually giving a fake error page however the page's source doesn't explain much either other than it's purposely redirecting to "google.com". You may be thinking that it would still be possible to access other files linked to the site, but it looks like those files may have been removed since they instead show a different "404 error" (ex. https://jetsetradio.live/radio/stations/classic/B.B.%20Rights%20-%20Funky%20Radio.mp3). The only link I've found that still work this one: https://jetsetradio.live/faq.txt. Also from what I could find, the site domain doesn't expire until 1/25/2021, which could mean if nothing is done until then the site could be gone for good.
As of now there doesn't seem to be any alternatives for jetsetradio.live, the only possible hope seems to be jetsetrad.io however nobody knows who is the one behind the site and if it will even come out. The only real clue I could find is that it was registered on 9/24/2020. One theory I could think of is that maybe it's actually JSRL's Professor K behind it given how much he talks about the FUTURE and how similar the site looks to JSRF's loading screen. Although I was only able find two mentions of him talking about jetsetrad.io and one being a comment from over 4 years ago and the other was a brief tweet about the site going down. It also could be possible that it's some completely random guy who only bought the domain as a joke much like lucar.io.
Back in August, I began to reflect on Professor K's words: "SAVE THE FUTURE". I don't really know what he meant by this, maybe it was just a nonsensical phrase that sounded cool, but I did began to think of what future I was trying to save. I really liked JSRL and how impressive each playlist was, so if there was a future that I wanted to save it would have been JSRL's, which is why I began to download each song. I've mentioned this before, but just in case I'll link it here again: https://archive.org/details/JSRL-station-08312020. In all honesty I wasn't expecting this to be needed so soon.
I've also started collecting whatever material I could find for JSRL over on GitHub:
Right now I have tons of wallpaper I saved from both his Twitter and whatever was saved to the Wayback Machine. Anyone is welcome to help contribute, make suggestions, or rehost what I have somewhere else. In terms of what couldn't be saved, it looks like the chat history is completely lost given how each message is saved and overwritten onto a single xml file, so the only way for it to be truly archived someone would have had to been constantly saving that page since the site started. Another thing that may be lost for good is the videos from JSRL TV. I was able to find the file link for each video earlier last month, however when I entered it all into my download manager it said the total dump would have been 70GB and I didn't have that much space to spare on my hard drive. In hindsight I should have just done one channel at a time and deleted the files after I uploaded them, but it's too late now. I did find his YouTube channel which had some of the bumps and I already downloaded them.

The next Professor K?

While he may not have been the official voice of the community, he did make a noticeable impact because of JSRL regardless of his shortcomings. Will he come back? Will someone become the next Professor K? Who knows. Worst case we end up with a situation of several people claiming to be the real Professor K. Either way, even if you just wanted to just host the radio and not necessarily be the next "Professor K" there's still some hurdles to overcome:
Hopefully with the files I and others were able to save we should at least have somewhat a starting ground to work with in rebuilding "Jet Set Radio Live" if needed.
Even though people may disagree about his behavior and character, I do have to applaud his dedication and love for Jet Set Radio by the fact he kept the site up for almost 5 years. In retrospect, maybe in some way Professor K really did failed to achieve his goal of "saving the future". Within the past 5 years of his time online, SEGA has still fail to re-release JSRF and Microsoft still hasn't added backwards compatibility support for JSRF despite knowing the Xbox One and Series X|S would greatly help the performance issues seen when playing it on the 360. The only real glimmer of hope we've had lately has been "Bomb Rush Cyberfunk" which isn't even made by SEGA but by fans inspired by JSR, and the slim possibility of something happening for JSRF's 20th anniversary in 2022.

Am I mad that things had to end this way? Of course, but complaining isn't going to help, what's done is done. All we can do now is look to the future and hopefully shape it into something better.
Update (1/25/2021): It looks like his Twitter has had more activity since the last I checked it. No new post yet, however he has been retweeting people's reactions about the site's "404" and disappearance. Is this just a bot or is this becoming more of a publicity stunt??? I guess we'll have to stay tuned and see what what the future holds.
Update #2 (1/27/2021): Is the Future coming sooner then we expected? I guess we'll find out come next month! https://twitter.com/jetsetradiolive/status/1354497386643648523?s=20

Stadia vs xcloud / game pass ultimate vs ps now / remote play vs Luna

Hello Stadians,
First post here. I joined the cult not long ago after extensive research and since my post on red flag deals about Stadia has gained much traction, I decided to post it here for future Stadians or people who might be interested. Information is spread out across many sources, so I am trying to bring all current cloud services together into one giant post. If you want to spread the message to people who are on the fence, please use this post as you like, you are free to share this. Please correct me if I got anything wrong since I am still new to the game. Here goes :
PART #1 :
Stadia is still very new to a lot of people but have gained quite a bit of attention recently due to Google freely handing out hardware. However, it is still largely misunderstood.
Unlike what many people think there it's either one or the other, Stadia is so versatile that it can complement anything (ps5, xbox, pc, mobile gaming). It doesn't have to be one or the other. You can sub, or you can just buy a game and play it whenever and wherever you want as long as you have a stable Internet connection.
The most important thing is to test it out for FREE. Go on your chrome browser, log in with your gmail account, and click on Destiny 2. No downloads, no load times, no patches, no wait times, no hidden fees, no hardware requirements, just play it for free indefinitely on any toaster computer you are running as long as you have a stable connection.
Like it ? Then don't be afraid to buy some games during their sales if they are cheaper on Stadia than other platforms. You will be able to play is as long as you have an stable Internet connection.
Don't listen to people who says Stadia is going away like some of Google's retired products. If anything, it's expanding and the future of gaming is streaming. Say goodbye to overpriced hardwares that expire or games that don't run properly on newer hardwares. Say goodbye to having to buy the same game on xbox, pc, mobile. Say goodbye to load times, storage limits, hardware problems like the ps4 pro making absurb noise.
Don't listen to people wo says Stadia has awful lag - they either have a bad connection or only tested Stadia at launch. With a good reliable connection with at least 35mbps download, there is absolutely no way the input lag will bother you unless you do competitive gaming. Everyone has their own experience with Stadia and best is to try it out yourself and not listen to people - it's free anyway with zero hurdles.
Don't listen to people claiming Stadia has a very limited library. Stadia launched roughly 1 year ago compared to xbox / steam / ps who have been there for ages. Obviously, you won't have the same library. Stadia is about to lock in 400+ games this year alone and more to come. Library size shouldn't matter since you do not have to pay or commit to anything. If you don't like what Stadia has to offer right now, just set it aside - you aren't losing out or anything. Your hardware is not going to expire, you aren't paying a dime to have a Stadia account, you have zero commitment necessary.
I hope this sums up the debate and why everyone should at least give Stadia a chance and try it out on your browser right now and experience the future of gaming. Zero commitment needed.

PART #2 : This is the part where I try to summarize each available streaming service and compare it to Stadia as of today.
PS Remote Play, which has pretty much been given up by Sony because they want to focus on PS5 hardware, is basically a service that allows you to connect to your own hardware to play games you own on your PS4 / PS5. You have the same limitations than your current hardware. Therefore, if your game only runs on 30FPS on PS4, it will only run 30FPS remotely. Your hardware will also eventually expire as new games get developed that require more juice. Last time I checked, remote play on PS4 Pro is capped at 720p. Since the connection has to jump through 2 loops (from your PS to Internet, and from the Internet back to your device), you will definitely feel a latency while streaming your games. Stadia is running off of a dedicated hardware and servers straight to the device you're streaming on, while the PS4/5 remote play has no server and uses your hardware.
PS Now is a service you need to pay either 12.99$ CAD a month or commit to $79.99 CAD for a whole year (20% off during BF sale, good value). It has its own dedicated servers so latency should be better. However, as of now, games are still being streamed at 720p only, and hopefully 1080p soon. A plus side is the access to a bigger library, potentially bigger than what xbox game pass ultimate has to offer. You can also download PS4/5 games to play offline unlike Stadia where a stable connection is required at all times. However, you need an online check every 7 days and the offline service only works on your PS4/5 hardware. if you use this service, some games can leave the platform on a rotation basis (about 10 out of 800 games available) and you don't own any games unless you buy them on the PS store. If your subscription expires, you'll lose access to the downloaded games and any DLC associated with it. As noted by redditors here, you do get plenty of time to finish the game and a notice ahead of time before rotation begins.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate cost 16.99$ CAD a month and provides the best library of games on a rotation basis, and is now combined with xbox gold meaning you can claim free games every month that you can keep as long as you are subbed, like Stadia Pro. The game selection is arguably better than PS Now, and is much more varied than Stadia. The biggest downside is that Game Pass Ultimate only offers 720p streaming as of now and I have noticed many more players reporting latency issues with Game Pass compared to Stadia. Just like PS now, Game Pass Ultimate is like a rental service where you don't get to keep any games unless you keep paying a fee. The difference with Stadia is that your money is exchanged for games you can keep with regular Stadia. You keep the games you bought and they do offer some free to play games like Destiny 2 and more to come eventually. However, free version of Stadia is capped at 1080p 60fps with stereo sound.
Geforce Now from Nvidia costs 6.49$ CAD a month to play, or offered free but you are limited to 1-hour sessions only, which is quite stressful in my opinion. It basically uses your steam games library and allows you to stream them using their cloud servers. If you have a big library of steam games, I can see a good reason to use Geforce Now. However, their cloud servers are much much smaller than Google (obviously). For new games, you have to wait for them to become available on the service if the game requires different specs, since Nvidia has to make Steam games compatible with their service first. Due to their small servers, 2 years after their launch, they have yet announced support for 4k streaming and yet to have their own exclusives. This is only a good option if you have a huge amount of steam games and want to access those games outside of your PC.
Luna offers game streaming for 7.99$ CAD (note that this is their entry price, and I will guarantee you this price will get a bump once their service is more widely known) . They have a bigger game library than Stadia but a lot of players claim that their games aren't as quality (filled with indie games and less AAA titles). However, Stadia has much better latency because Amazon servers are more tailored towards enterprise usage rather than customer. Another downside to Luna is that it doesn't offer a free service compared to Stadia, but time will tell.
To me, the main selling point for Stadia is this : no commitment required.
With other services, you either have to pay to use their service or buy their hardware, or both. A paywall is the highest obstacle to a new user base and Google knows that. No other services would allow you to create a free account, go on your chrome browser, and play Destiny 2 (other free games will be announced soon) right away without any hardware check. You can play Destiny 2 on a toaster computer, a TV with a Chromecast Ultra dongle and all you need is keyboard + mouse, or any controller you can find. Stadia can accommodate those with little to no interest to build a 1,000 $ CAD PC to keep up with current games (to eventually expire and have to upgrade again) and Stadia doesn't require you to buy consoles, have console hardwares expire, compatibility issues with previous games, update games, run out of storage room.
All you need to ask yourself is : do you want to play this game or not ?
You are not pressured to finish a game before it rotates out.
You are not forced to pay to play - you buy and own.
You don't have to think about compatibility issues nor hardware issues.
If Stadia manages to secure more AAA and exclusive titles, they will be an even more fearful competitor to other game streaming services.
Cloud gaming is still very young but it is the future. We don't know when it will happen, but one day, it will be the Netflix of gaming.

2020-11-26 EDIT : Thank you so much for all the feedback guys, I stand corrected on many points you guys put forward and I appreciate the time you put to read through my wall of text.
EDIT 2 : Updated PS Now to include 10 games out of 800 that gets rotated out and library size potentially bigger than xbox's.
EDIT 3 : correction on stadia servers vs amazon luna's

Complain to Microsoft and Request Compensation

We are blaming Microsoft because they promised a service they were unable to deliver, and then they were not able to announce its cancellation in advance.
Even a free month of Game Pass would be some compensation for disappointed customers who expected the service they paid for. I signed up for the 3 month offer for EA Play on PC and they said I won't be eligible for another sign-up promotion, so I have been double bamboozled by Microsoft on this.
I called Xbox support and they said there might be compensation, but they cannot offer it unless "the offline team" approves it for customers. The support agent said they are looking into it, but I expect this will only happen if they get enough complaints.
Put in at least your complaint with Microsoft, folks. They claim to provide customer service and let's call them out on this one and request some small compensation for what is a botched and cancelled release.
Steps:
  1. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/contact-us, click the green "Contact Us" button.
  2. When prompted for the reason, select "Games & Apps" -> "I can't play a digital game" -> "PC".
  3. An Xbox support agent will call you within just a few minutes. Politely request if they can compensate you and the other customers for today's last second cancellation of EA Play for PC.

FH4 - PLEASE HELP & UPVOTE! The dreaded error (E:47-0) profile not available

Please power through this for me guys and hear me out, I'm sure there's a way I can sort this out because I think my suituation is kinda unique, I just can't think of it right now.
So after 2 years of playing FH4, hundreds of millions of credits, all the rare cars and dominating my friends leaderboards I logged in last week and received the dreaded error E:47-0 profile unavailable. my first thoughts were that for some reason I'd been banned but after reading countless forums and reddit posts it sounds like it has more to do with a corrupt game save.
so here's my setup: I have two gaming PC's and one Xbox one with ultimate game pass linked to all three, I don't own the game and only play through game pass. my xbox and PC1 is located at my house, PC2 is located the other end of the country in a room i rent for when I work away from home.
I spent the whole week playing forza on PC2 with no problems then returned home on the friday to play on PC1, synced my profile and was immediately greeted with the E:47-0 error. after doing some searching on forums, microsofts website and reddit some people are saying to delete a specific "WGS" folder from my PC and resync from the cloud of which I did, forced the game to sync and received the same error. some people are suggesting logging out of all my microsoft accounts on my devices then back in which also didn't work.
I have attempted to log in from both PC1 and PC2, which has synced my profile and thrown up the error on both (which suggests to me the cloud account is corrupt) however I am yet to go on my xbox and attempt this. My question is this: Is there a way to login to my xbox offline and play the game, then connect it online and save the data therefore replacing the corrupt cloud save? I have previously been able to log onto forza offline and play however recently the game pass doesn't seem to allow me to do this anymore. Also, what is the likelihood of the local save data on PC1 being automatically overwritten by the corrupt data now it synced but did not allow me to play?
TLDR: corrupt profile, how can I recover it using local save data and removing any corrupt data from the cloud.
Thank you all very much in advance.

PES 2020 - Several gameplay issues in Master League

So... first of all, this is not a rant, or at least I'm trying my best to not rant; I actually want to like this game and learn to play it better. Second, I've read on most of these things, pay attention to in game squad config, player stats, form, team spirit, who my captain is, tactics, etc, and I still can't seem to get the hang of it. Third, I play exclusively offline, mostly Master League, so what I'm about to say applies only to that. I have no idea about online play. And fourth, I'm sure you've all heard this before, but like I said, I've read up and looked for tutorials and tips on things, and I still need help.
The gist of it is that I encounter a lot of gameplay problems in ML matches. The typical issue of my team's AI doing next to nothing, but more specific things as well. I'll try to list them.
- My center backs don't stay in position. When defending, and even if I have my midfielders back to help the defenders, my CBs will more often than not ioen up for no reason leave a wide gap on the center, enough for a striker to receive a through pass and shoot without a care. Even when there's no other attacking players to watch out for, my CBs will just walk away from that lone striker and leave him open.
- I feel the defensive controls are too limited. The press button (A on Xbox or X on PS controllers) is utterly useless as all it seems to do it make your player stick to the *back* of the opposing player who has the ball, instead of trying to catch up to them and steal the ball. Even when my defender is in front of the player that has the ball, the press button ends up with my defender behind. I've read that my best shot is to not use press and move my defender manually in front of the attacker and follow them like so, but when they're able to feint and change directions so quickly, my players just can't react fast enough and often get stuck in slow animations trying to turn and run the other way while the attacker blazes past them. And I cannot remember a time when I double tapped Press and it did not end in a foul. Tackling is just useless. Also, for some reason I can't seem to figure out how to keep the ball when under pressure. Even when playing with tall and strong players, all it takes is a tackle attempt from an oponent from any direction, to make them lose balance and give up. Opposing players are so much better at protecting the ball and I just can't find a button to do anything of the sort.
-Every time a player (mine or opposing) clears or passes under presure, the ball ends up on my oponent's possession. The same thing happens with the ball bouncing off a player that managed to block a shot, or when two players jump for a high ball. The ball always bounces right to where an opposing (and unmarked) player is. I understand that when an opposing defender is putting a lot of pressure on my player, they're more likely to miss their passes and shots, or that the clearing button when defending will send the ball just anywhere in the general direction of the stick far away and is like a last resort when defending desperately. But, it seems like that only applies to me and not to the CPU team. If I'm pressing an opposing player with a defender literally on top of them, their passes and even centers will still be precise. Let alone their shots.
- Lots of fouls. Except for a few times when my defenders actually manage to cleanly shove an opposing player to steal the ball, or when the oponent literally walks into me defender, with the ball in front, my attempts to steal the ball will end in a foul. I can commit a foul without even pressing any buttons sometimes. I avoid double tapping Press like I said above, and I avoid sliding tackles too because both always end in fouls, while the CPU is able to do both all the time and the referee will say nothing. Sometimes the opponent doesn't even touch the ball as it just keeps rolling forward as my player is tackled or tripped into the grass, and no foul is given. It's rare for me to get a free kick in my favor and I've focused on making the most of them when I do, to bring up a bit of a good point. So I feel the referee is much more likely to call fouls I make, than the CPU's.
- My players don't intercept passes. If I send a poor pass, it'll get intercepted easily. That's obvious and I can't complain about it. But I can't expect MY players to do the same. The ball will just roll right past all of them and the player that was meant to receive it, will do so without a problem. Even when I manage to position my player in the path of the ball, instead of actually intercepting it, he'll stay there, get *hit* by the ball (whch then bounces to another opposing player so I don't really get to interrupt the play anyway) and become dazed or just unable to reach it before an opposing player. Even slow passes will catch my player entirely off guard and he won't be able to catch the ball.
- My players can't win any sort of 50-50 dispute for the ball. I center the ball right into opposing defenders or goalkeepers. My defenders can't clear a center or corner kick for the life of me (how am I supposed to know which of my defenders to control manually if each is trying to mark a different attacker and I don't know who will the ball aim for?). I remember scoring ONE goal from a center. Just one, once, and never again.
All of these boil down to "I don't know how I'm supposed to defend". So really... tips on that will be greatly appreciated. Onto attacking matters...
- My through passes and centers are pointless. I understand that through passes shouldn't be used too often and only when you have enough space for one. But even then, most of them look just like I'm passing the ball to an opposing defender. They don't even have to run and catch up to my pass, as it will go straight to them. I have no idea how to score from a corner kick. I try to use the different tactics such as sprinting, staying on the second post or in the small box, but if my center is too close to the small box it ends up on the goalkeeper, and if it's too far, my good headers won't get a chance to get the ball and it'll be cleared away.
-In general, the CPU's defense is always so well positioned. their midfielders and defenders are always marking my attackers and rendering entire zones of the field unplayable for me. Which is a very fair thing, especially when I'm playing against a stronger team. But first, no matter what sort of defensive instructions I set for my team, my AI will never do the same; and second, I can't figure out how to make my uncontrolled players to make some room for a pass, or lure defenders out of position so the player who has the ball can do something. I try to be patient and pass the ball back and forth, side to side to try and find openings. But I can easily go on like 5 matches in a row without a single shot attempt. Not even off target. I just can't get close to shooting range, so my best bet is often aiming for a 0-0. Avoid losing.
I've tried to fix these issues by lining up the players that are in best form, train them in their natural position, keep my team spirit as high as I can (though it's hard when I get too many matches in a few days and need to rotate the lineup), make sure my captain has the actual role for it, using both too many and too few tactics, to either cover all my bases and not overwhelm my team with instructions, respectively. But they keep happening.
Most of these issues happen regardless of what team I use. Whether it's a strong world class one or a subpar team from a subpar league, I still notice most of these things.
If it means anything, I'm currently playing ML on Chile's league, with Huachipato (as it's my country and I'm a fan of this team irl) so it's meant to be hard as objectively, it is NOT a good team. But again, I can play with top tier teams and still run into the same problems.
Finally, lowering the difficulty won't cut it for me. I play on Legend and while I've read that the CPU basically cheats on Legend, the previous one feels too easy at times. I'm struggling to find a challenging but still fun difficulty. I've also read about scripting and all that, but I don't really know how to get into it.
Sorry for the long post. I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read through it and offer some help.

State of the Game - September 16th, 2020

State of the Game

This State of the Game focused mostly on Title Update 11 launch.

Priority Alerts

Maintenance - September 15th, 2020

» Source

Free Weekend

There will be a free weekend from September 24th to the 27th.
The progress from the free weekend will carry over when you buy the game.

Summary

Ubisoft Forward

=> TU 11 / The Summit Trailer

Console Cross Gen Compatibility

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will be backward compatible on both the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, allowing you to play The Division 2 on the new generation of consoles.
In essence, the game will work on the new console generation.

If you own the Division 2 on PS4 for example, you don’t have to buy it again to play it on PS5. It will work and you can continue your journey with your character. You will also be able to play with your friends on PS4 while playing on PS5 (for example) but only within the same console family. (same applies to Xbox)
Regarding quality – this is not an optimization pass to upgrade the graphics – but The Division will run on the highest possible quality of the current console generation. So if you buy a PS5, you get the PS4 Pro quality – the same applies to Xbox.

The Division 1 has the same compatibility.

Title Update 11

Release Date: September 22nd (during the usual maintenance)

The Summit

Will be released with TU11 on September 22nd.

PTS Phase 2 Changes:
These changes were introduced in Phase 2 of the PTS:
  • Added greater variety and diversity in objective types as you progress through The Summit.
  • Changed the Hostage revive timer to be longer, giving more leeway to reach them before the objective fails.
  • Increased the radius of the hack zone for EMP objectives.
  • Increased the number of loot caches scattered around the building, which contents scale with difficulty.
  • Reduced number of directives on Legendary Floors 91-100. Now has 3 random directives (previously had 4).
  • Fixed an issue which allowed players to finish the 100th floor without actually killing the enemies.
  • Fixed an issue causing only one type of enemy to spawn on Legendary difficulty.
  • Fixed an issue causing enemies to shoot through walls on the 100th floor.

Additional changes for TU11 launch
  • Added more objectives do complete and changed the frequency of certain objectives.
  • Drone Ambush objective was adjusted
  • Legendary Floors have now Rogue Agents encounter enabled (they will also happen in any other difficulty)
    • You will also have a checkpoint, so even if you die to the Rogue Agents on legendary difficulty, you will not lose any progress.
    • This applies only to the Summit, legendary Strongholds have no Rogue Agent encounters
  • Legendary Floors also have exotic Archetypes enabled, so you can have (for example) all 3 Warhound Archetypes in one encounter.
  • Legendary Floors – Ambush objective has been disabled because the factions that are assigned to that objective are not scaled to legendary (Rioters, Ambushers, etc)
  • Covers were fixed that were not working properly
  • Laptop interactions placement were fixed
  • Doors not opening was fixed
  • Floor 100 enemies appearing beneath the floor was fixed
  • Rally Points up to Level 50 will be unlocked per default at TU11 launch.
  • The Directives will stay pre-set as on PTS, if you don’t like Directives, you can repeat the floors that have not any Directives assigned to them. (they are looking into changes for that in TU11.1)

Checkpoints
If you join a group that has a higher Rally Point than you (you have unlocked 40 and you join a group on 65, you will keep the Rally Point on 70 once you have killed the boss encounter there)

Planned changes for TU11.1
They are looking into difficulty, Directives, Targeted Loot, and other optimizations for a more customized challenge that fits you.

Please keep the feedback coming.

Operation Iron Horse Discovery Mode

The Discovery Mode for the Operation Iron Horse Raid will become available when Title Update 11 drops.

  • Two old ones will be replaced.

Global Event Modifier Changes

They went through the Global Events (Reanimated, Guardian, and Polarity Switch) and they made some drastic changes in how they work.
In essence, they’ve taken away many of the negative aspects and kept the positive effects of those modifiers to make sure you actually want to have them active because they make you feel more powerful.

PVP Changes

The PVP balancing changes are listed in the PTS patch notes: Link
No additional PVP content will be added with TU11.

Tim Sweeney says Apple has "crippled" the App Store, has an "absolute monopoly", and labels App Store commission a "tax" in bizarre rant

Article here:
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/24/epic-games-ceo-tim-sweeney-apple-crippled-app-store-with-30percent-cut.html
Apple has locked down and crippled the ecosystem
For a crippled ecosystem, Apple is doing pretty well, right? Last year alone estimates put App Store revenue at $50 billion (approximately 3 times the value of Epic Games) and growth was estimated to be 2.9% too - not bad when you consider that the App Store is 12 years old.
an absolute monopoly on the distribution of software
This is patently false - and he's doubling down here on the already false monopoly claim. An absolute monopoly is very different from simply a monopoly in that it is objective, not subjective. Absolute monopoly definition:
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/absolute-monopoly
a situation where only one company, country, etc. produces and sells a particular product
Which clearly isn't the case with Apple. I mean Tim goes on to cry about Google and Android in the same interview - demolishing his own absolute monopoly argument inadvertently. Looking at the definition closer - if we're being kind and charitable and accepting Sweeney's butchering of the English language - then it applies equally to his own store and its exclusivity deals.
(an absolute monopoly) on the monetization of software
Tim is lying about monetisation, Epic Games found a way around the monetisation issue on Fortnite, by using the guidelines Apple themselves created - important to remember here, Fortnite is a free download on iOS - yet Apple allows gamers who purchased their v-bucks on other platforms to use them on iOS.
iOS gamers can even buy v-bucks gift cards on/offline, redeem them on the Fortnite website (while using their iPhones), and use the v-bucks in-game without Apple getting a cent.
https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/en-US/vbuckscard
From the official Fortnite FAQ:
https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/en-US/faq
Q: Are my V-Bucks bound to the platform I purchase them on?
A: Purchased V-Bucks are shared between PC and mobile if you've linked your account with your Epic ID. However, V-Bucks purchased on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch are not shared between other platforms.
So Apple and Android permit v-bucks purchased outside the app to be used, but Epic investor, Sony, doesn't.
If every developer could accept their own payments and avoid the 30% tax by Apple and Google we could pass the savings along to all our consumers and players would get a better deal on items. And you’d have economic competition
To be fair, the article here is a bit shit. Earlier in the article, it refers to the EGS cut as a 12% fee, whereas here it doesn't challenge Sweeney when he disingenuously calls that same fee a tax.
Also, look at what he is really arguing for - he's calling for devs to be able to avoid the fee. He wants Apple to do what he won't do himself and that's while ignoring the completely different positions his shitty launcher and Apple's entire ecosystem are in.

This Week At Bungie 6/4/2020

Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/49206
This Week At Bungie, Season of the Worthy is ready for departure.
Before we talk about anything else, we’d like to maintain your focus on the events unfolding around the world. You may have seen demonstrations in your town, or like many of us here, down the street from the place you call home.
Image Linkimgur
Support does not end with a single statement or action. We’ll continue to use our games and our shared voice to make the world a better place. We hope you’ll join in supporting these efforts by visiting the following resources noted above, and more, by getting directly involved.
Image Linkimgur
This week also kicks off Pride month. If you hadn’t seen the @BungieStore announcement, our Pride Pins are back in stock. All profits from sales of Bungie's Pride Pin benefit the It Gets Better Project, which inspires people across the globe to share their stories and remind the next generation of LGBTQIA+ youth that hope is out there, and it will get better. We also have some words from the Bungie Diversity Committee, speaking to the design of the pin:
Diversity Comittee: Our Pride pin was specifically designed to include black and brown stripes, in an effort to be inclusive and show support for people of color within the LGBTQIA+ community. In that spirit we want to continue our support for all intersectional communities; including LGTBQIA+ individuals who are also part of the Black community currently fighting against racial oppression, demanding justice and equality. We can support the Black Lives Matter movement and the LGBTQIA+ community at the same time, because without the leadership and heroism of Transgender Black and Brown individuals, like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, today's LGBTQIA+ rights would not exist. And so now is a time to do more to help both, rather than dividing our efforts.
If you snag a pin, you’ll also receive a code for the True Colors Emblem to show your support in-game when playing Destiny 2.
Image Link
We’ll continue sharing Bungie initiatives to support LGBTQIA+ communities throughout the month of June, so stay tuned. Our commitment to racial justice is just getting started, so you can expect to hear more soon.
Within Destiny 2, you may have been watching the approach of the Almighty. You’re itching to see the conclusion of the Season, but you’re also starting to hear whispers of what’s coming next. Join us on Tuesday, June 9 at 9 AM PDT to learn about the future of Destiny 2.

Preview 2.9.0

Destiny 2 Update 2.9.0 will become available next week, meaning we have a pile of patch notes to get through. Let’s take a quick moment to look through some of the changes.
Eververse
A few TWAB’s back, we talked about the future of Eververse, and how we’re making changes to some reward structures to better balance gameplay rewards with Eververse content. Season of [REDACTED] will contain a few introductory changes, with more shifts coming in Season 12. The following changes will become available next week:
  • Legendary Armor Ornaments
    • As noted in a previous TWAB, we have shifted the Season 11 armor offering to be a gameplay reward for aspirational content.
    • The Season of Opulence “Intrepid” Ornament sets are returning to the storefront.
  • Season Pass
    • Added an additional 2300 Bright Dust to the Season Pass.
  • Bright Dust Purchases
    • Added a “Flair” section to feature Shaders and Spawn FX.
  • Highly requested items from previous Seasons will once again be available.
    • We’re looking at you, Wishes of Sorrow.
  • We will once again communicate Season 11 Silver-only items at the beginning of the Season.
We’re expecting to have an update later in Season 11 on further changes to Bright Dust acquisition, so keep your eyes peeled.
Sandbox
  • The Powerful Friends armor mod will no longer stack. If multiple copies of this mod are equipped, the mods will provide no bonus stats.
    • Developer Commentary:
      • Only Solar Seasonal mods are intended to stack. No part of Arc mods are intended to have stacking functionality.
      • Powerful Friends granted +20 to Mobility, which players could leverage to get three stat columns to the max of 100 points. The mod is not priced sufficiently to justify its benefits, and increasing its cost would have adverse effects on its primary benefit usage.
      • Season 11 introduces a new Arc mod, granting a similar stat bonus to Strength and will not stack.
  • Enhanced Auto Rifle Loader, Enhance Fusion Rifle Loader, and Enhanced Bow Loader armor mods now have a chance to drop from pinnacle mod sources.
Raid Rewards
The following raid Exotics now have increased drop chances:
  • One Thousand Voices
  • Anarchy
  • Always on Time (Exotic Sparrow from secret chest in Scourge of the Past)
NOTE: Drop chance begins at 10% and increases to a max of 50% over 20 clears.
Trials Rewards
  • Additional Masterwork material rewards now drop at 3, 5, and 7 Trials wins.
  • Added a Trials weekly bounty which unlocks Trials Engrams on Saint-14.
    • The bounty reward will match the Win 3 Milestone reward of the week.
  • Trials Tokens distribution has been rebalanced to focus on wins 3, 5, and 7 of a Trials Passage.
    • This includes repeat Passages.
  • Trials Tokens are no longer awarded from match completions.
    • Tokens are now granted specifically through wins and bounties.
  • Passage of Wealth now doubles the bonus Trials Tokens earned at 3, 5 and 7 Trials wins.
Hope you enjoyed this appetizer. Full course (and more) coming on June 9. See you then.

Mixing a Green Thumb with a Bumper Jumper

So, we heard you like patch note previews. They’re short, sweet, and to the point. This topic, though, needs a bit more time to get through. Today, Staff Designer Lisa Brown takes center stage to walk us through the upcoming Controller Remapping feature that the team has been working on.
Lisa: Greetings, Guardians! I’m Lisa, a staff designer on the sandbox team here at Bungie, and I’m going to give an overview of the controller remapping feature for gameplay actions that will be coming to Destiny for all players in the Season of [REDACTED].
Although we have controller presets in Destiny, these aren’t enough to meet basic accessibility guidelines for motor control and mobility. We’ve been working with some amazing accessibility consultants – Cherry Rae Thompson (https://www.cherryrae.com/) and Ian Hamilton (http://ian-hamilton.com/blog/) – to create support for remapping buttons on the controller. Here, I’ll give an overview of how to use the feature, what it can and can’t do, and then share some setups that have been used by various Bungie employees as examples. As a quick note, all of the below examples will be shown using Xbox button layouts.
Overview
Players can create a custom controller layout by going to the Controller section of the Settings screen and choosing Button Layout. A “Custom” option is available in the list.
Image Linkimgur
On this screen you’ll be able to customize mappings for gameplay actions on your character, in vehicles, and in general settings (like emotes and interacting with prompts).
Image Linkimgur
If you’re like me and you typically use a preset other than Default, you can use the “Reset” button to start from one of those presets.
Image Linkimgur
To rebind a button, select the button mapping next to the action you want, and the next screen will allow you to input the button you want to remap to.
Image Linkimgur
Verbs, Verbs, Verbs
One of the challenges with controller remapping in Destiny is that we have a LOT of player verbs. Think of verbs as actions – throwing grenades, triggering your Super, jumping, sprinting, sliding, etc. With PC remapping, there’s a whole keyboard at your disposal to map buttons. On the controller, though, there’s only so many buttons, and we have many more verbs than buttons.
To solve this, we allow the player to map an action not just to a button, but also a type of input. Our three supported input types are:
  • Press – a standard button press (for example, crouching on the default layout).
  • Long Press – requires holding down the button for a brief period of time to initiate the action (for example, casting Barricade or Rift as a Titan or Warlock).
  • Double Press – pressing a button twice in succession to initiate an action (for example, dodging for Hunters).
As an example, some of our Exotic weapons (Borealis, Symmetry, Hard Light, etc.) have an alternate weapon action, which has typically been activated by holding the reload button. Now this can be mapped separately, to a different button or different input. For example, I like to change it from long press X to double press X. Now when I want to switch Symmetry’s firing mode, I double press the X button.
For the Double Press input type, you can also increase the amount of time between button presses for it to register as a double press. This option is on the main controller page.
Image Linkimgur
Chord Support
In addition to mapping actions to an individual button, we also support mapping to Chords, meaning two buttons pressed simultaneously. In the default layout in Destiny, pressing the Left and Right Bumpers together to execute your Super is an example of a Chord.
Here’s a custom layout example where a player has mapped some of the basic character options to just the face button using Chords:
  • Fire: X
  • Toggle Zoom: Press Y
  • Reload: Press A + X
  • Alternate Weapon Action: Long press A + X
  • Melee: Press B + Y
  • Grenade: Double Press B
  • Super: Press A + B
  • Jump: Press A
Constraints and Caveats
Although this feature is a step towards greater motor accessibility in Destiny, it is still limited in what it can do. For example:
  • This controller remapping feature is limited to gameplay actions, not UI input or menu navigation.
  • One motor accessibility challenge are inputs that require the player to hold down a button. We have options to switch between holds and toggles for some of our actions (zoom, sprint, crouch) but we were not able to address all cases (examples: weapon firing, class jump ability, charging grenades, drawing a bow, etc.)
  • We opted for flexibility in allowing players to map any action to any button and input combination, but that flexibility means there are some combinations that may give unexpected results for the player.
  • Example: if you map melee to press X, and some other action to Long Press X, the melee action resolves before the duration to detect a long press, so the player would always melee and never do the other action.
  • There is no individualized error verification for these cases.
  • This update was just focused on controller remapping, so there are some mappable options that appear here that are not yet available for keyboard remapping (for example, individual mappings for different class abilities, and some Warlock abilities like Phoenix Dive or Icarus Dash).
  • Our chord support is for simultaneous press of two buttons only, it does not detect if you press one button, hold it down, and then press another.
  • Unlike our presets, there’s no dynamic controller preview image for the custom layout.
Bungie Examples
Here are a few examples of custom mappings that some of our Bungie players enjoy.
I’ll start with my own. I’m typically a Jumper player, but I also have a problem with melee on Right Stick Press. Even though it’s a faster input for my hand to reach, I am a stress-clicker, and many a perfect shot line up has been ruined by a wayward melee. I needed to move my melee action to something more intentional, so I put it on A, and moved Super back up to the Double Bumper Chord. I put player highlight back on right stick press, but made my finisher Double Press A. I also made my alternate weapon action Double Press X instead of Long Press, because I prefer that input.
Another example is from a left-handed player who typically uses Mirror, but wanted a true left-handed experience, and so swapped the function of the face buttons with the d-pad buttons. Actions like reload, jump, crouch, etc. were now on the d-pad buttons, while emotes were mapped to the face buttons.
A third Bungie employee really wanted to recreate a classic Halo experience in Destiny. He started with the default layout and switched zoom to a Toggle on Right Stick, grenade on Left Trigger, melee on B and crouch on Left Stick Press. He then mapped Super to A, jump on Left Bumper, and class ability on Right Bumper. He also chose to leave heavy attack, light attack, and guard (actions only used in third person modes like roaming Supers) mapped to their original Right Trigger, Right Bumper, and Left Trigger mappings.
We hope that this feature will make Destiny more accessible and flexible, but do note that this is but one step on Destiny’s journey to improve accessibility across the game.
We’re excited to bring another form of accessibility to Destiny 2, and will be watching as this first iteration goes live.

Last Screening of the Season

This is our final MOTW of the Season. How time flies, eh? We’ve featured hundreds of creations in this space, and this week had the most individual contributors of any creation we've selected so far. Congrats to all of the Guardians who are taking a W home as Season of the Worthy comes to a close.
Movie of the Week: Quarantine Guardians
Video Link
If you’re hunting a MOTW Emblem, make sure to submit your video to the Creations Page on Bungie.net. Link the Bungie.net accounts of anyone who helped in the video description, or we won’t know where to send your prize!
There are so many important things going on in the world, it’s difficult to maintain focus on much of anything right now. I’ve been spending a lot of time with friends in Discord servers while hitting weekly milestones, talking to them about their health, thoughts, and feelings concerning current world events. Much of our attention has been on what’s happening right outside our windows. The thing is, this isn’t new. This has been happening since well before many of us were born. It’s time to listen and learn from our neighbors and communities. Check in with your fellow Guardians, friends, and family. Take action to help them out if or when they need it. It’s perfectly OK to press pause, put your controllers down, and focus your attention elsewhere - especially if you're going out there to demand justice and to support the Black community. You may find many of us out there with you in the greater Seattle area. Destiny will still be here when you want to sit down for a few games. It isn't going anywhere.
Be well, be safe, and we’ll see you starside.
